Towergate Connect are able to provide underpinned property insurance for homes that have suffered subsidence and have subsequently been underpinned.

This type of underpinned house insurance is specially designed to eliminate the difficulties of arranging cover for properties that have been previously underpinned, which can cause problems when trying to sell it.

Our underpinned property insurance is designed with you in mind; we understand that selling a property that has suffered subsidence can be problematic which is why we're happy to transfer your underpinned property insurance to the new home owner. This often results in a smoother sale as most mortgage providers require subsidence, heave and landslip cover to be in place before completion.

How long does it take to arrange cover?
The process of getting on cover for your underpinned property is slightly longer than on a standard home. This usually takes around 7-14 days. The process includes a site survey.

Towergate Connect will arrange the survey on your property. This is an Underwriting requirement before we can commence insurance cover. This will cost you a flat fee of £160.

How do I find out an approximate premium price?
Call us on 0844 736 8233 to get an indication premium. If you are happy with this indication we will require a proposal form along with your building documentation. We will then send this information to our Underwriters who will give a more accurate premium.

What other documentation do I need to send in with the proposal form?
You need to send us any Structural Engineering reports and Certificate of Structural adequacy.

Would I still be covered for subsidence, heave or landslip?
Yes we will still provide this cover for you with an excess of 2.5% of the buildings sum insured up a maximum of £5,000 or a minimum of £2,500.

I have sold / in the process of selling my underpinned property - can the underpinned policy be transferred to the new owner?
Yes this policy can be transferred to new owners. Phone us on 0844 736 8246 to arrange the transfer.

What do I do if I need to cancel my cover?
You are entitled to a full refund of the premium paid if you find the policy unsuitable for your needs and cancel it within 14 days of receipt of your policy documents (as long as no claims have been made). If you need to cancel cover after that time, cancellation charges will apply. Please call us or notify us in writing with the reason for cancellation and state the date from which you need cover to cease. Remember, if your policy is in more than one name, all policyholders will need to sign the letter. Can I arrange contents cover as well?
Yes we can provide contents insurance cover as well as buildings cover. Just add these requirements to the proposal form.

Can I arrange insurance cover if I am in the process of underpinning my property?
Towergate Connect will consider full cover once work has been completed.
